SoulPages Creative Kits
Would you like to take beautiful illustrations from vintage books and turn them into a journal page that says something about you?
Every kit has full pages I scanned from the vintage books I collect, and a step-by-step written lesson. There are six themed kits, and one big kit with 60 scans drawn from all six themes.

You love creating in your journal. But a recorded lesson asks for an hour in front of a screen, and you don’t always have one. Sometimes all you have is one evening, a clear table and a cup of tea.
These kits were made for those evenings. Everything is written down: what to prepare, what to do at each step, and which questions to ask yourself along the way. The kit lies open beside you like a small book, and you go at your own pace.
Illustrations too beautiful to stay on the shelf
I’ve been collecting vintage books for years. It’s a wild collection, truly the story of a life: years of searching in different countries, in secondhand shops and at book fairs. Inside these books are illustrations of children, birds and animals, flowers and fruit, castles and forests.
I scanned full pages from them, just as they are, yellowed paper, faded colors and all. The six theme kits hold 147 of them, and each kit has a lesson on its own theme.

What you’ll find in every kit
- Get to know SoulPages Journaling and its seven elements: intention, the magic of chance, background, images, color, line and text.
- Create your first page in a foundation lesson, one element at a time.
- Begin with opening questions that draw you into the theme.
- Work through a written lesson on the kit’s theme, with an invitation, clear steps, sample pages and journal questions. From Old Books has two lessons.
- Print the scans (20 to 60 in each kit), cut out what you love, and glue it into your journal.

Vintage kits by theme
Each kit is $19.

Children from Old Storybooks

A few of the opening questions:
- What did I love doing as a girl, when no one was watching?
- Which children’s book do I still remember, and what was in it?
The lesson: “The girl I was”
In this lesson the girl you were comes back to the page. You trace her outline, cut a stencil from it, and lay it on a background of bold color.
From the journal questions: “Which quality of the girl I was would I like to bring back into my life?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- A childhood photo of yourself, or a girl from the scanned pages
- Heavy paper or cardstock for the stencil
- A sponge
- A white marker
From the scanned pages:

Flowers, Fruit & Trees
Inside: Roses and wildflowers, apples, peaches and tropical fruit, and trees in summer, fall and winter.
The lesson: “Circles of inspiration”: a page that grows layer by layer, and a metaphor waiting inside it.
$19

A few of the opening questions:
- What is growing in me right now, even if no one can see it yet?
- Which flower would I bring myself today?
The lesson: “Circles of inspiration”
About fifty minutes of quiet creating, layer after layer: a soft background with a stencil and a sponge, images you cut out, strips of text, and at the end a mandala and branches in marker. Only when the page is ready do you look at it and find a metaphor in it.
From the journal questions: “What is growing in me at this time?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- A stencil and a sponge
- A black marker
- Strips of text from an old book or magazine
From the scanned pages:

Birds
Inside: A robin on a nest of blue eggs, parrots and birds of paradise, doves and hens, and children feeding ducklings.
The lesson: “The artist within you”: two birds, and a path of words and color between them.
$19

A few of the opening questions:
- Where would I fly right now, if I could?
- Where is my nest, the place I always come back to?
The lesson: “The artist within you”
Two images on either side of the page: the artist you are today, and the artist you want to be. A path runs between them, and along it you write what came up in a short guided imagery.
From the journal questions: “How can I invite her to be more present in my life in the coming weeks?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- Masking tape
- A fine permanent pen
From the scanned pages:

Animals
Inside: Deer and stags, squirrels and leopards, dogs and horses, and children with their pets.
The lesson: “More than the sum of its parts”: a single figure built from many pieces, that says something about you.
$19

A few of the opening questions:
- Which animal would I be, if I could choose?
- Which animal strength would I like to take with me into the coming week?
The lesson: “More than the sum of its parts”
One figure made of many parts: a face, a body from a perfume bottle, legs from a tree trunk, and maybe wings or a tail. We’re looking for what the image says about you: brave as a lion, steady as an oak.
From the journal questions: “What did I discover about myself?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- Old magazines
- A glue stick
- A black marker and a white marker
From the scanned pages:

People, Costumes & Journeys
Inside: Costumes from every era, people from all over the world, girls from the covers of old German books, castles, villages and roads.
The lesson: “The map I carried with me”: your palm as a map, and four lines that tell the story of your journey.
$19

A few of the opening questions:
- Where in the world would I travel right now, and what would I look for there?
- What do I take with me on every road, even without packing?
The lesson: “The map I carried with me”
The palm of your hand holds lines written over the years: the life line, the head line, the heart line and the fate line. In this lesson we read them the way we read a symbol in the journal: as a mirror, not a prophecy.
From the journal questions: “What does my heart want to feel or receive right now?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- Pens or pencils in four colors
From the scanned pages:

Under the Sea, in the Jungle & in the Grass
Inside: Jellyfish and sea anemones, fish, snails and seashells, chameleons, orchids and palm trees, butterflies, moths and mushrooms.
The lesson: “The color capsule”: a bubble of ink, and a sentence written around it.
$19
Get this kitMore about this kit
A few of the opening questions:
- What is hiding in me beneath the surface?
- Which small, hidden creature reminds me of myself?
The lesson: “The color capsule”
One bubble of ink, made of drops that spread through the water with no control, like a small world beneath the sea. Inside it you look for hints about one belief that holds you back, and at the end you write a sentence around it that makes you stronger.
From the journal questions: “What did the bubble know before I did?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- Ink in three colors: yellow, red and blue
- Watercolor paper
- Colored markers
From the scanned pages:

Would you like all six?
All six vintage kits together: 147 scanned pages on six themes. Every kit comes with a SoulPages foundation lesson and a written lesson on its theme.
From Old Books isn’t included in the bundle.
From Old Books
60 scans drawn from all six themes, and two written lessons.

From Old Books
Inside: Whole pages scanned from old books in my collection: illustrations from children’s books, birds and animals, flowers and fruit, castles and forests.
The lessons: “The inner poets,” a poem you discover hidden in an old page of text. “The inner critic,” a figure born from ink blots, with a kind figure beside it.
$32
Get this kitMore about this kit
A few of the opening questions:
- Which childhood book do I still remember, and why?
- Which sentence from a book stayed with me through a hard time?
The first lesson: “The inner poets”
Every old page of text has a poem hiding in it. When you mark just a few words and cover the rest, small windows are left, and the words in them begin to speak to you. In this lesson you’ll find your own poem in pages that other people wrote. This is erasure poetry: a poem hidden in a text that already exists.
From the journal questions: “What did this process stir in me?”
The second lesson: “The inner critic”
Each of us has an inner voice that criticizes: “It’s not good enough,” “Who do you think you are?” Instead of fighting it, you can invite it onto the page, give it a shape, and ask what it wants. In this lesson it is born from ink blots on old book pages, and at the end a kind figure comes to stand beside it.
From the journal questions: “How old was I when we first met?”
Extra materials for this kit:
- Text pages from old books
- Black ink, or black acrylic
From the image pages:

And also: the Cut & Paste kits
Alongside the scans there are five Cut & Paste kits, inspired by old books and classic collage: Wonderland, Family & Roots, Nature & Seasons, Sea & Journey, and Women & Faces. Each one has two written lessons and image pages ready to cut out, and each kit is $10.

How you receive your kit
- Each kit is an A4 PDF that also prints well on US Letter paper.
- As soon as you pay, you’ll get an email with your download link. Your kit is also saved in your account on the site, under Downloads.
- Print the scanned pages on ordinary printer paper. No special paper is needed. I suggest printing each page twice, so you still have a full copy after you cut.
If you have a question about the kits, write to me and I’ll be happy to help.
I’d love to see your pages,
Rakefet
